Lessons in Letting Go ---
the Upside of Uselessness, Irrelevance and Impermanence
presented by
Bruce Barnes, Jungian Analyst
Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, 8 pm
Letting go, without giving up, is very difficult to do at any age. Making a transition from one stage of life to another –
crossing a new threshold – is always hard. A particularly challenging transition is moving from mid-life
towards the later years. This presentation will explore a model to manage this time of flux.
Bruce Barnes’ Articles of Fool’s Faith offers guidelines to embrace this momentous passage.
The Long Way Home
Saturday Workshop, September 29, 2007; 10 am- 12 pm, 2-4 pm
In this workshop, we will follow a winding path through uselessness, irrelevance and impermanence in search of meaning and grace. Along the way we will find ourselves, among other places, beside the lake at Bollingen, talking to the Ringmaster, in an art gallery looking at the high-wire artistry of the Abstract Expressionists, at a concert listening to the minstrels, and at the circus talking to the clowns. Barnes’s Articles of Fool’s Faith* will provide guidelines and reference points as we proceed. Only life experience is necessary! (*provided by presenter) (the article, of course, not the life experiences!)
